Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five-tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid.

Needs lower down in the hierarchy must be satisfied before individuals can attend to needs higher up. From the bottom of the hierarchy upwards, the needs are: physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization.

I found this article on the web on 30 May 2022.  I’m sure there are many more articles.  The relevance to the aspiration to save the people and the planet is Maslow’s theories provide a clue about human needs to be moral and to flourish.  As mentioned elsewhere not all human needs are met as individuals develop and I suggest there’s plenty of room for research here to explore the need for the mystical that leads people to religious and scientific fervour, as well as drugs.
